Be a Freelance Website Makeover Consultant

Date January 30, 2008

This specialty requires a thick skin and persistence. You’ll be pitching your services to companies that already have Websites. Your job is to help companies get back on track or enhance their current Web situations.

More that likely, they jumped on the net bandwagon and quickly realized that it takes time to make a Website successful. Unfortunately, many clients believe their Websites look great with flashing text, scrolling banners, and gaudy graphics. Your job is to show them how a simple, but elegant look can greatly increase their reputation.

The best option is to show them before and after pictures. Don’t have any clients yet? Look for a “not so good” site, redesign it yourself, then show it to prospects. Make the redesign so radically different, they can’t refuse to upgrade their own sites.

Be careful when you market this type of service. Seek to gain trust first by offering a free newsletter that will “move” clients to your ideas. Research new techniques and technologies, summarize your information and send it out monthly. You will become a valuable resource whom clients will think of when they move forward with their Website plans.
